“Perhaps if there were more of that intense distress for souls that leads to tears, we should more frequently see the results we desire. Sometimes it may be that while we are complaining of the hardness of the hearts of those we are seeking to benefit, the hardness of our own hearts and our feeble apprehension of the solemn reality of eternal things may be the true cause of our want of success.” Hudson Taylor

  1. BAS says:

I have a question about the last line. I want to make sure I interpret something correctly. Does this mean that many church leaders will end up pressing through their agenda in churchgoers’ lives when it concerns things they do not understand (either, gospel related or personal)?

  2. BAS,

I believe that is the case.

Far too many times we hear preachers/teachers say/do things all in the name of “what feels right or for the common good of” rather than saying “let’s see what God said in context…”.

To me, I believe that we are our own worse stumbling blocks because we often times put our desires over seeking the direction of the Holy Spirit. I know this is true with me, therefore repentance is a must in my life!
