Posts Tagged ‘critics of Perry Noble’

I figured it was about time to share some of the comments I receive from those in the seeker-sensitive movement. I just picked a few to share out of the hundreds I’ve received this year.

Defending Furtick:

This is a disgrace. Nobody agrees with you, at all. Pastor Furtick is serving God and doing what God has called him to do. He is changing lives because of what God is doing through him and Elevation Church. Its not a competition at all. He is a man of God, something you OBVIOUSLY are not. I’m disgusted by you, whoever you are. Find something else to do with your time, maybe pray to God for forgiveness first. It’s a good thing your video doesn’t have an affect on any of us except disappointment!

You idiot. Get a hobby

I’m just honestly disgusted by the comments left here. @buzzbbird I’m so glad that you just blatantly condemned and judged a man’s eternal destination based on a video he made that is ALL ABOUT TRYING TO CHANGE THE WORLD for Christ. Ever hear his sermons? (Coming from a Bible Major), All Cross centered, Gospel focused and usually exegetically (look it up) developed. He even did a series on SIN (“Scarecrow in a Mellon Patch”… on Podcast). Or is he condmened for using Podcasts too? 😦

I wouldn’t give a squirt of piss for anything this fundamentalist douche bag has to say.(Directed to me…such a nice person)

this church is the most legit I have ever seen! It is undeniable the work and anointing that is on this church! If you think you are better and more righteous… then go lead 22,000 people to Jesus Christ in 5 years!  Didn’t think so

He left his job, risked his financial wellbeing, and uprroted his family to start elevation church. What have you done for Jesus, lately?

Steven Furtick is an amazing man of God! Have you ever read his book or listened to his sermons? He is filled with the Holy Spirit and NOT a disgrace to God!

Defending Perry Noble and New$pring Church:

Defending NewSpring:

bro have you ever even been to newspring in your life? were you at the service where they talked about sexed? and how dare you take scripture out of context to make it fit something  you want.

BAMF means

get off of newsprings case for the little things that dont matter

it means go do what really matters

it says in the bible to go and make disciples of all nations

is that not what we are doing

it does not say in the bible “and the lord god said go and bash other churches, tear down their ideas, and criticize their leaders and motives”

NewSpring is one of the MOST AMAZING Churchs you will ever go ot and if you cant handle the truth and what they preach why do you judge them? All preachers are different and if thats how he gets the word out then let him and you stay out of it. If your so CHRISTIAN Why do you judge people?

It’s sad that we would spend more time judging Men of God based on “traditional” church. The method my change, but Gods work will stay true forever. No one is perfect. So, why don’t we make videos that will bring someone to Christ. Non-Christians see stuff like this and this is why they don’t go to church. Christians shouldn’t be like this. God is the final judge and his judgement is all that matters! God bless. Let’s lift Perry up and let God show him any corrections he needs to make

you people are well on your way to hell! anyboby who has the time to post something like this is gonna get a one way ticket.unless you attend newsprings you wouldnt know anything about it!

Dremias5545 right now I’m praying for you. I pray for God to do a work in your heart. I pray that you would never ever post another video like that (the newspring one) because you are confusing people in their faith with Christ and that is scary place my friend.

watched your video about newspring & how they say every dime goes to missions. You’re an idiot. thx.

you’re ridiculous

dude, you’re videos bashing perry noble are ridiculous. he is not a hireling. he is not greedy. just today he preached a sermon about tithing and offering. the bible makes many references on giving and not just giving anything, but giving your best. perry also went further, even though he was in no way obligated to do so, he stated that he GAVE his best and offerings to the church as well. these “group sessions” that he charges pastors to attend would might be an issue, except for the fact that perry gives ALL of that money to NewSpring. perry has also made $80,000 in the past three years from “outside” speaking, ALL OF WHICH WAS GIVEN TO NEWSPRING. perry is also getting ready to sign his first book deal, and guess where ALL of the profits from that book selling are going to go? you guessed it, its ALL going to newspring. listen man, as long as perry is preaching the word of the lord, giving his ten percent in tithing, AND going above and beyond and giving offerings, it shouldn’t matter how much he makes. children of the lord deserve to be blessed. if GOD wanted, he could take EVERYTHING from perry. when you tithe, you arent giving to the church. you are giving back to Christ through the church.

now with that being said, HOW MUCH DO YOU GIVE? do you give your mandatory ten percent that God has commanded you to give? do you go above that and give offerings? HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU MAKE? if you think that is none of my business, what makes you think that perry’s salary is any of your business? if you aren’t giving your ABSOLUTE BEST to the body of Christ, then you definitely need to spend more time focusing on that rather than creating these videos about how much money perry noble makes. football coaches make more money than perry. come on man…i do realize that there are many pastors who are money hungry, but perry is not one of those men.

Words of warning from seeker-sensitives:

You are not advancing the kingdom, you are dividing it. Please do not post hate speech about a prosperous ministry because you believe “preachers should be poor.” It’s religious thinking, its divisive, and it can send a person teetering on the edge of “do I want to try Jesus or not” to simply say no and move on in their lives continuing in defeat. I challenge you to use your abilities to create video’s and make some that lift of the name of Jesus, and not tear down leaders that are doing something for the kingdom. You cant argue with results. If you disagree with someone, pray for them. Its not your responsibility to be their judge and jury on a public forum like youtube! Thats the worlds mindset! Lets point the splinter so no one see’s our plank. I will pray for you that God softens your heart to the needs of his church and a dying world that needs the gospel preached to them.

Your comment about Perry Noble

Did it ever occur to you that maybe the reason why they charge $100 a person is because the people that attend that conference get materials and resources to use and their own church? About a month ago over 900 people got baptized and during our easter series alone over 1000 peopl accepted christ. We are changing lives…you are trying to ruin them….Plus, read the old testament…prime example of why you wouldn’t want to mess with God’s appointed.

Your videos

As I look over your videos, it is clear to me that you either struggle from an enormous amount of jealousy, or you have no biblical understanding. for you to critique Steven Furtick and Perry Noble is kind of like a middle school all star critiquing Michael Jordan. How can you justify posting videos about men when you have no idea what you are talking about? When you have accomplished a fraction of what these men have, you may at least not look quite so ignorant in your zeal. But it will be no more biblical. Oppose those who oppose Christ. Leave other Christians alone.

stop trying to be all formal about everything

in closing

shut up and quit being a pharisee

newspring church member

see its annoying and unnecessary isnt it?

What’s really sad is how these people are deceived by Perry Noble and Steven Furtick. The fruits of Noble and Furtick are sour to the core.-David J

Matthew 7:15-18 (NASB)

A Tree and Its Fruit

15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.

Perry Noble, is the most abusive beater of Christ’s sheep that I’ve ever heard. Why anyone would allow themselves to be abused by this man is beyond me. Here is the latest example of “Pastor” Perry’s abusiveness.

This is a segment from the June 30th, 2011 episode of the Fighting for the Faith radio program.(source)

I am amazed that so many people put up with this hireling(John 10:12-13). He has no love for his people and he has been shaking the $money$ tree(1 Timothy 6:9-11) a lot over the past several months.-David J

1 Corinthians 13(NIV)

1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Here is another blog:FBC Jax Watchdog talking about Noble’s bad attitude:

“I think you officially suck as a human being if that is your focus…and the people that think the music is about them can leave the church.” Perry Noble’s message to church members who say they don’t prefer the music style at NewSpring Church.

It ain’t easy being a member these days at NewSpring Churchpastored by Perry Noble – the rules, the regulations, the sheep beatings, the curses.

According to Perry Noble, you “officially suck as a human being” if you express to Perry that you are purposely late to church because you like his preaching but don’t care for the music style.

NewSpring members need to be careful that their church doesn’t begin to fall into the category of a cult. Cults often begin by having a very demanding, charismatic leader, they will require conformity with rigid extra-biblical rules, they will devalue outsiders and non-conformists, and they will suppress dissent.

You see all four of these beginning to emerge at NewSpring. Not saying they are a cult, but when the charismatic leader starts telling people that :

– they can’t come back into the auditorium after the sermon starts even if they leave to tend to a child or go to the bathroom;

– that you suck as a human being if you disagree with the pastor over music styles;

– you are not allowed to designate how your donations are spent;

– you must give 10% of your income to the church undesignated or God will curse you;

– parents cannot bring children younger than 12 years of age into the church services;

– you must show up to church on time or you can’t get into the church service;

…then you better begin to get concerned.

Lest you think that I’m overstating things by bringing up the word “cult” – don’t forget what happened to a critic of Perry Noble’s at the hands of staff members a few years back that is the subject of an on-going lawsuit. You see from the “you suck as a human being” quote how those who even mildly express dissent are devalued by the pastor. I would say it is this kind of rhetoric from the pastor towards dissenters that breeds the actions taken by a staff member against the Noble critic back in 2008 and 2009.

Perry Noble even tells the parents that if they don’t conform to the “authority” of the church leaders, they will breed rebelliousness in the hearts of their children . No, actually subjecting one’s self to non-biblical requirements for the pleasure of the pastor might teach your kids that they must endure spiritual abuse at the hands of an over-bearing preacher.

If you’re interested, Chris Rosebrough has done an excellent review of this sermon that he has entitled “The Perry Noble Sheep Beating Incident of 2011.” You can listen to the entire Perry Noble sermon here, and click on the sermon “Frequently Asked Questions”.

Chris is right on in his analysis. This is classic sheep beating. A pastor is to be the picture of humility and servant-hood for the people he shepherds, but instead Perry Noble is a stand-up comedian who makes jokes about troublesome church members, denigrates Christians who disagree with him, and lays down extra-biblical rules that are burdensome on people.

Unfortunately in Perry Noble and other mega pastor superstars these days, we have professional religious men who have turned Christianity from its essence: the release of sinful men and women from the burden of having to try to please God with their works and their alms through simple faith in Christ – into a strict religious system that demands conformity to religious practices, tells people how they must think and what rules they must obey to be pleasing to God and their priest, and uses tactics of guilt and shame in the process. And, oh by the way, they get filthy rich while doing it.

I’m pretty sure that if Jesus were here, he would warn the people of NewSpring about the arrogant Perry Noble and his professional religious men and describe them as he did the Pharisees:

“They tie up heavy burdens and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are unwilling to move them with so much as a finger.” (Mat 23:4)(source)

I am so glad that more people are seeing Perry Noble and his inner circle as the snake oil salesmen that they are. As a former New$pring member from 2008-2009, I have personally felt the wrath of New$pring upon me when I spoke out against Perry Noble’s errors and bad attitude. Lucky for me, I did not end up being harassed like James Duncan. In my opinion, New$pring is closer to being a cult than most people realize.-David J

I guess if people give more money to New$pring it will go to fund more events like this:

When I first heard Perry Noble’s preaching, I loved it. I’ll even go so far as to say that I still enjoy his sermons. I was a big fan of NewSpring in the beginning. My family was against them. Fortunately for me though, there was never any bad blood about it. It was just something I liked and they didn’t.

I could never understand why everyone hated them so much. Sure, the music is different. He has a tendency to say things that you might not have heard your traditional preacher say when you were growing up. But he preached a good sermon.

But then I started hearing stories about things that supposedly had happened to people going there. As far as I was concerned, it was just hearsay, so I didn’t consider it a big deal. Then one night I was on google, looking around for stuff about NewSpring trying to find out if there was any truth to what I had been hearing. I didn’t specifically find what I was looking for at that time but I did find something else that made me change my mind. After all the horror stories I’ve read since then, I can’t remember the one that turned me against them. But still, it didn’t involve me personally so I didn’t really care. It was just something I was against.

Late last year into early this year, the James Duncan harassment thing happened. That really upset me. How could a church do this? And how could this church’s senior pastor not issue a public apology on behalf of the church, whether he had knowledge of it or not? It was just wrong. But still, it wasn’t personal for me. It pissed me off, I ranted about it a little and I forgot about it.

A bone marrow drive was held today in honor of Alex Carver, a 15 year old who has been battling leukemia. She went into remission previously but her condition came back and got worse and now she’s going to need a bone marrow transplant. 920 people showed up for the drive, not including those that already had their paperwork filled out when they came. It was a great turnout and I thank God for every single person who took time out of their lives to help a child who has barely had a chance to begin her life.

Every single newspaper, tv station, radio station and church that was contacted to help spread the word about Alex’s bone marrow drive was happy to help. With the exception of one. You can imagine our disbelief when NewSpring refused to announce a bone marrow drive for a teenager who went to NewSpring for years. Especially when their refusal was on the grounds that “it would interfere with worshiping Jesus.” They also would not allow a flier to be placed on their building because “if they did it for one person, they’d have to do it for everyone”.

I can’t help but wonder how many more people would have been there for Alex today had NewSpring told them about it. It’s finally personal for me.

So here we are now. It may just be a matter of time before it becomes personal to you. Unfortunately for NewSpring’s members, as was the case with me, they won’t care until it becomes personal to them.

This section of The Pit is dedicated to all the people who have been hurt by NewSpring. It’s a place where they can share their personal stories about this place to warn others. And hopefully in the process, we will show NewSpring that you cannot claim to be a positive influence in this community until you start acting like a positive influence in this community.

This isn’t about whether or not Perry Noble preaches from the bible. It’s not really about religion at all (although I can’t help but wonder how someone who claims to be a Christian can sit back and go about his business pretending like things like this aren’t going on). It’s not about their poor choice of worship music. It’s not about their pretty lights and the fact that they don’t have a steeple.

It’s about accountability. It’s about being decent human beings. It’s about not claiming Christianity, but being Christianity.

Anderson is ashamed of you, NewSpring. It’s time you started paying attention.(Source)

Perry Noble 2011 Sheep Beating Incident

Volunteers at NewSpring Church love Jesus more…

Calling on the people of NewSpring to demand Perry Noble to repent and meet with James Duncan

“So when did you stop worshiping Jesus and start attacking God’s work at NewSpring?”

Just another example of more double talk and scripture twisting coming from Perry Noble.

*When you join NewSpring Church here is one of the cd’s they recommend you pick up as you leave the class:

In their membership class, they will tell you that NewSpring does not need your money out of one mouth, and with the other mouth they tell you to give a 10% tithe.

Here are some questions that everyone who gives money to NewSpring Church should ask Perry Noble and his board of directors:

What did NewSpring Church do with the money they took up in 2007-2008 for the Greenville Campus building fund?

Why can you not simply buy a building instead of renting the Carolina First Center?

*Why did NewSpring Church waste the money (possible millions) to completely remodel the old Bi-Lo building on Roper Mountain Road when it was rented instead of being purchased by the church?

Why do you subject your volunteers to such a weekly task of setting up the Greenville campus when NewSpring Church is bringing in millions of dollars per year?

Why do you waste money on stuff link renting the Bi-Lo Center (See ) vs. providing a permanent building for the Greenville Campus?

I guess the people of Greenville are subjected to these things so the Pastor CEO Perry Noble can see who loves Jesus the most while he checks their tithing records and volunteer service. Kinda strange that Noble and NewSpring’s inner circle wants to check your tithing records for possible jobs, but NewSpring members/financial givers cannot check Perry Noble’s salary/benefits or the church’s financial records to make sure their money is not being abused and wasted.(source)

We are not under the law of the OT tithe

Does God require me to give a tithe of all I earn?

Why Tithing is wrong

I can not describe my feelings about Brad Cooper’s defense of cussing and using foul terms like “bamf” to describe the bride of Christ. I am lost for words at the rebellion, carnality, and pride displayed in this quote from Brad Cooper.

No where is the Scripture sighted in context as a defense. He did reference Luke 6:45 but totally twisted it out of logical context.

Brad Cooper may have changed his view as to what filthy speech means, but God’s view does not change regardless of Brad Cooper’s humanist explanation based upon the shifting sands of “the ends justify the means”.

Let’s look at God’s Word and see what God said about our speech and testimony.

Titus 2:5-8 (New International Version)

5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

Using bad language like “bamf” to describe the church is not soundness of speech. Those outside of the Christian faith even condemn this type of filth. This term is so vile I could not put it on a public billboard because of profanity laws.

Titus 2:11-15 (New International Version)

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

15 These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.

Brad Cooper’s distortion of the Word of God leaves the door open for ungodliness and worldly passions. The cussing he is defending is vile and ungodly which is in clear violation of God’s clear commandments found easily in His Word.

Colossians 3:8 (New International Version)

8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

God clearly meant what He said regardless of how Brad Cooper wants to redefine God’s Word.

I was not required to dig deep into the Bible to refute Brad Cooper’s carnal defense of cussing.

It is clear to me that Brad Cooper is not interested in obeying the Scriptures. His defense and distortions of profanity is vile in itself because it only requires the speakers’ intention regardless if the words spoken are offensive to those who hear it. This is against what the Scriptures teach us as Christians.

I have been trying to get Brad Cooper Student Pastor from NewSpring Church to talk with me about his comments referring to FUSE. Brad Cooper used the acronym BAMF to describe the body of Christ. The acronym is so filthy and vulgar that I refuse to put it on my blog. For those of you interested in this relevant worldly “hip” acronym BAMF you can google it, but beware you will be in for a shock. How can a pastor use such a foul term to describe the bride of Christ?

I have been posting on Brad Cooper’s blog, sending him Twitter messages, etc.. He deleted one of my post and called me a coward. When I presented the facts and offered to meet with him, he ignored my request.

In the Bible it deals with this type of filthy language.

Colossians 3:8 (NIV)
3:8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

I find it alarming that NewSpring has not dealt with this in public. Since Brad Cooper used this term twice, that I know about in public, referring to the body of Christ, then NewSpring should correct this in public and Brad Cooper apologize to our community in public.

This is not an unreasonable request by me. This type of filth should not be used to describe the church especially by a student pastor!

Parents, how would you feel if you son or daughter starting referring to stuff as BAMF? When you ask where did they hear such speech? The answer is,”Brad Cooper from FUSE! He is so cool and relevant to us!”

Join me and e-mail NewSpring Church to demand a public apology from Brad Cooper and NewSpring Church. Contact the local media and report this please. Help me to stand up against this type of abuse and irresponsibility by speaking out peacefully using our freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
